395 new members from 50 nations were invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a large list of new members who have been accepted to join the famous film organisation, and a few names in particular struck our eye. The fresh list of invitees for the Academy’s “Class Of 2021” includes actress Vidya Balan and TV czarina Ekta Kapoor.
This year, 395 new members from 50 nations have been asked to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including Vidya Balan, Ekta Kapoor, and her mother Shobha Kapoor, who is also a producer. The “Class of 2021” has 46 percent new female invitees, 53 percent ethnic representation members, and 53 percent foreign members from 49 countries other than the United States.
Vidya Balan has been honoured by the Academy for some of her most well-known films, including the 2012 mystery thriller Kahaani and the 2017 family drama Tumhari Sulu. Paa, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Parineeta, Bobby Jasoos, and Shakuntala Devi are just a few of Vidya Balan’s remarkable acting credits. Her work in the 2011 film The Dirty Picture earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
Meanwhile, the Academy has honoured producers Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor, who run the production company Balaji Telefilms, for their support of films including Dream Girl, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Udta Punjab, and Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture.
Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby, Robert Pattinson, and Yuh-Jung Youn are among the actors who have received invitations from the Academy. There are as many as 89 previously Oscar-nominated names on the list of incoming Academy members, with 25 of them being Oscar winners.
Last year, celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan were among 819 people accepted to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as new members. The 94th Academy Awards will be place on March 27 of the following year.
