Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, sent her condolences on Friday in response to the event involving the fall of a wall in Lucknow that claimed nine lives.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of people in Lucknow due to wall collapse. My condolences to the bereaved families. I wish the injured people a speedy recovery,” was a tweet posted from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Lucknow Wall Collapse
A part of houses fell owing to severe overnight rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, killing at least 21 people, nine of them were in the state capital of Lucknow.
Nine people, including three children, were buried alive in the Dilkusha neighborhood of Lucknow late on Thursday night after an Army enclave’s under-construction wall collapsed. Two other individuals were also hurt.
The victims, who were in huts outside the enclave, were sleeping off at the time of the event, according to the police. Three men, three women, and the same number of children were among the fatalities, an official said. The injured are receiving medical care at a hospital, and according to the physicians, their status is stable.
Due to the heavy rain, a building wall collapsed over the victims. The males were employed as day laborers, according to police members of the Cantonment police station.
Deputy Chief Minister of the state Brajesh Pathak, who sits in the state parliament as a member of the Lucknow Cantonment constituency, went to the scene and afterward asked how the injured people were doing at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital.
Five individuals, including two children, perished in wall collapse events in the villages of Kantha and Chandpur Jhalihai in the Unnao district. The tragedy, according to the locals, happened between 2 and 3 in the morning when the deceased’s parents were leaving their home to check on the rain damage it had sustained.
The next of kin of the dead will receive financial help from the state government in the amount of Rs 4 lakh apiece. The state received 32.2 mm on average of rain on Friday, which is 428% more than the long period average (LPA) of 6.1 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Barabanki had the most rain out of all the districts, with 192.7 mm, followed by Lucknow (116.9 mm) and Mau (110 mm).
The city has been experiencing water logging issues as a result of heavy rain in numerous areas. Following a deluge, the Commissioner examined water logging problems in the city.
Any municipal issue, such as water logging or tree falls, should be reported to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation Control Room, according to the district administration. Additionally, the administration has encouraged the inhabitants to consume only boiling water and to get chlorine pills and bleaching powder from their neighborhood health clinics. The administration has ordered PHC and CHC, as well as other government hospitals, to remain on high alert. The government is providing every kind of support to the citizens of the city.
