According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s data, 2,59,591 new cases and 4,209 deaths have been reported on Friday, in India in the last 24 hours. The discharges recorded for the same period stands at 3,57,295 making the discharge count more than the count of daily cases reported.
There are a total of 2,60,31,991 caseload, which includes 30,27,925 active cases, 2,27,12,735 recoveries, and 2,91,331 deaths. According to the stats given by ICMR, till May 20th, a total of 32,44,17,870 samples were tested with 20,61,683 samples being tested on Thursday. In India, a total of 19,18,79,503 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
India’s daily spike of coronavirus cases had remained under the 3 lakh mark on Monday, for the first time after 26 days as only 2,81,386 fresh infections were recorded in the last 24 hours. On Tuesday, the country saw the highest ever recoveries with 4,22,436 fresh discharges in a single day for the first time.It was in April that India had crossed the 3 lakh mark, which was the first time since the pandemic began last year.
