All party MPs must be present on the floor from September 18 to September 22 during the Special Parliament Session, according to a three-line whip issued by Congress on Thursday.
”During this extraordinary session, which runs from September 18 to September 22, 2023, the Rajya Sabha will examine a number of very significant matters.
According to the three-line whip, “all members of the Congress party in the Rajya Sabha are requested to kindly remain present in the House from 11 am onward until the House adjourns from September 18 to September 22 without fail and support the party’s stand.”
The whip said, “This may be treated as most important.”
Each and every Lok Sabha member of the Congress received a comparable whip.
The government revealed on Wednesday that it had scheduled a special discussion on Parliament’s 75-year history on the first day of the extraordinary session after keeping the agenda secret since the announcement of the session. Probably on September 19, the new Parliament building will host Parliamentary proceedings.
The government has also scheduled for discussion and passage during the session a measure regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners. During the most recent Monsoon session, the bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
‘The Advocates (Amendment) Bill-2023’ and ‘The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill-2023’, which were earlier approved by the Rajya Sabha on August 3 are among the other items on the agenda for the Lok Sabha. Additionally, ‘The Post Office Bill-2023’ has been included in the Lok Sabha business, according to a government announcement.
The agenda is listed as “tentative” in the bulletin, however, implying that other topics may be brought up for debate during the five-day special session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi announced the government’s decision to hold an all-party meeting on September 17, the day before the start of the five-day session, in a post on X (Twitter).
